You can get 1M tokens of inference because it's subsidized by VC money. The whole point of the parent comment is that this is closer to the actual cost to provide a service.

It's basically McMaster with slow shipping for my hobby projects. I don't need the $1000 quality and warranty of a McMaster ball screw and linear guideways, the $80 BSTMOTION brand(?) stuff has been working for me for years and is

We don't have time to wait for a bunch of diesel engines to die of old age - as you know, they're quite long lived. And how long do you think is reasonable for diesel to be "phased out"? DEF became mandatory in the mid-2

I’ve started seeing blogs or other works of media with a “No AI” badge and it makes me glad to see others feel the same way. I’m not anti-AI - I use Cursor extensively at work and in personal projects. What I do not like is presenting (eith

Would you rather there be no outdoors for your grandchildren to hunt in? The “other party” isn’t at war with hunting, they just want a planet that’s livable for future generations.

That’s the 10% that Docker can’t do, indeed. But most of what I want to do is handled fine by the area where Docker and Nix (not NixOS) overlap.

What you describe with building and rebuilding and keeping a clean environment is exactly what I use Docker containers for, eg devcontainers. I know it’s not reproducible in the same way, but the learning curve is so, so much lower for some

RCEs are almost exclusively due to buffer overruns, sure there are examples where that’s not the case but it’s not really an exaggeration or hyperbole when you’re comparing it to C/C++

Well, unsecure in the sense that a reporter was mistakenly added to a group chat they certainly should not have been in. A secure app in this context would prevent random people from being added to secure areas.

The code demo in the crabtime readme is actually a good example of something that is now hard to grep. Let's say you see a usage of `Position1`, and you want to find where and how it's defined - well, there is no `enum Position1`
