His book (Why We Sleep) is full of studies and evidence backing up what he claims. It's quite an enjoyable read and I'd recommend reading it if you have doubts or want to know more.

Somewhat relevant given the topic, don't read "it" at not-human. Not everyone here speaks English as a first language and translating a non-gendered/unknown pronoun to English may result in "it".

It's worth pointing out that the case study is from 2007, there's a good chance that this company is no longer involved and likely wasn't involved in building the API for apps and the security on them.
