I've been using self hosted Gitlab instances for about two years now, maintenance is really low. I've never seen an outage on any of the systems. Running applications at scale is hard but running Gitlab in a low traffic environmen

But would you want to only block single IPv6 addresses? Usually whole blocks are assigned as far as I know? So just hashing a single ipv6 would probably not work very well.

Apparently Flightaware also had issues which could explain that. ADSBExchange was still up but they're probably just too unknown for attackers to care. If you bring down Flightaware and Flightradar you can prevent most people from trac

The problem just is that it's often infeasible to replace the higher income. And since women in their early 30s are (unfortunately) often paid worse on average than men (due to many factors), women stay out longer and lose out even mor

House sales have hit an all-time high last year. The share of foreign buyers has increased over the past decade but is still insignificant. So someone is definitely buying houses and tech workers tend to be paid quite well in comparison to

It depends very much on where you live. Localized results outside of the US suck with DDG. Yes, you can set a language but you always have to set/unset it and even then it's not great at providing results that are relevant to a sp

It's also hard to argue against it. In the end, Google uses all that data to make more money with ads. And having relevant ads for your taste isn't necessarily bad for many. The amount of data collection is truly bad for people li

Uber has been in London since before that, competition by Uber and other minicabs was probably a reason for card requirements for black cabs.

It's not just tech workers, pretty much any academic will hit that limit. And if you live in an expensive area, 1800 Euro can be a severe cap. With mortgages to pay, it can be unrealistic for the father to take more than the minimum of

Germany has a much more restrictive system though. 65% and a cap that pretty much anyone with a college degree will hit. So in reality you look at 30-50% for most people. Still nice, especially given the job guarantee, but very restrictive

If you're all remote it's probably easiest to rent office space for those days close to a train station (or between those) in London. In that case it's probably not more than 4 hours for anyone based in the UK. Same for other

Always a good advice but I wouldn't worry about MSFT going after downloaders of Windows XP source code. If it was about Windows 10 or even Windows 7 then maybe, but I don't think they care much that this is out in the open.
