Most of the replies you got are talking about DOM manipulation. If you're using React, then you have that part covered. In my experience, it's much easier to use React's declarative model over D3's imperative one. D3 has

> How does that work if multiple users are collaborating on the same state simultaneously? The state they're talking about here is local to the client--it's stored in memory on the browser. One one user can use it at a time.

I was the main author of Circle's frontend (the code is open-source: https://github.com/circleci/frontend ). I went on to build Precursor ( https://precursorapp.com ), which uses Datascript ( https:/

I think you overestimate how hard it is to pick up a new language. Even the designer at Circle ( https://twitter.com/dannykingme ) learned enough ClojureScript within the first month to build components completely independent

I don't think he's accusing you of anything sinister. To me, it sounds like he's saying "here is the result of your policy". It's almost as if you're both saying the same thing :).

That was a great writeup, thanks. The author has a real talent for writing engaging explanations. I've been making my way through The Design and Implementation of the FreeBSD operating System [1], which is a bit denser and more formal

I got a reply over email from the author. He says: "I hope the Wiki will get back up in two weeks when my students return to fix the webserver. Contact me then if it is not up yet."

I'm building a generic collaborative prototyping tool that I think works well for infrastructure diagrams, especially if you want something a bit more free-form. I wrote up a short tutorial here: https://precursorapp.com

With this one, the database is an immutable value, so you can hold on to old versions of it. Here's an incomplete example of how you could implement optimistic updates: tx_report = datascript.transact(db_conn, [{:key "value&

We're also using it in production, and it works really well when paired with Datomic. Thanks to transaction queues on both ends, we can set up a meteor-style sync that's pretty handy. It's also well-suited for rapid-prototypi

For anyone experimenting with inline styles, there are a couple of things you'll still need a stylesheet for. Inline styles can't modify psuedo-elements or psuedo-styles. You'll need to define styles for :before, :focus, :act

I don't think there are any touch events at all when you're using a trackpad on a mac. For mobile, we can distinguish by the touch events.

Sorry, I have the ajax fallback mostly working. Sharing cursors doesn't work, but syncing chat and changes to the canvas does. I'm still trying to find a reliable way to catch the error that prevents the connection upgrade. Right

Thanks, I appreciate the reply! You may be right about share-ability being important. It would be nice to see some validation of that. For example, users sharing Precursor docs full of their custom components, encouraging other users to cop

Oh sorry, I didn't mean to imply that none of the svg tags are present. Most of the common svg things work, but there are lots of missing tags and attributes. There's an issue for it here: https://github.com/facebo

You should be able to make things as large as you like--the canvas is infinite. To pan, you can scroll or hold space and drag. To zoom, hold alt and scroll.

Curious what you think of our current approach to this. We're worried about people spending a lot of time searching for the perfect component instead of just sketching out their ideas. That's one of the big problems that we see wi
