I agree with eloisant, if you get a decent machine with an SSD, Play is quite snappy. Recompilations are around 1 second on my MacBook Pro with retina display, which is a small price to pay for the type safety you get with Scala

I'm taking the ML class and I love it! I agree with everything you said above, and I'd love to see a more advance ML class in the future. Keep up the good work!

I had to write a sudoku solver in a job interview on a white board. I felt and still feel that it was a bit non-trivial for a job interview question, but nonetheless I arrived at the same answer Peter Norvig did.

Yeah, I agree with wtetzner, I've been using STM in Scala via both ScalaSTM and Akka for almost 2 years now. It's incredibly easy to use and I use it far more than any of the other concurrency controls out there. I've written a blog entry

Down voted :) I think this is my first comment. Anyway, yes, I'm the CTO for a small startup and we regularly spin up 500 node clusters on AWS for data processing. Yes that's a quarter of what Facebook is claiming, and yeah I see that the

Bah! Largest?!? I'm absolutely certain Hadoop Clusters of that size are spawned on Amazon Web Services several times a day. In fact, I'd say something more along the lines of, "wow, look at how old skool Facebook is!"
