When you've been on vacation what happens if you don't force yourself to go back to sleep? What happens if you go to sleep at 7:30pm and set an alarm for 9:00pm? Would you like it better if you got only 7-8 hours of sleep but weren't as ene

Here's the real reason why: Apple makes products. Other companies make hardware, and include software. Or they make software to run on some platform. Or something. Apple has realized that large numbers of people want whole products, not bit

Never shut up and be satisfied while you are not fulfilled. Keep your job for now, save some of that money, and spend a portion of your non-work time thinking and exploring what you would like to do with your professional life. By the time

Wonderfully indented code is not always readable. Readable code is always indented well.

The reason why there are so many languages is that there's no committee deciding which languages are ok and which are not. And that's really, really awesome, because committees would stink at that. Instead, we have the ability to choose amo

I think that a lot of people are missing the main point of this article. And Ryan could have stated it a little more clearly. Here's my take on it: Some things cost money, but others don't. Many things that people, including me, want to cha

It baffles me when techie people put critical infrastructure in the hands of others. When you pay and have a support contract it's bad. When it's free it's worse. If it's not critical to you then that's fine.

I don't think so either. But that's what comes out of Thou Shalt Comment. And yes, I have seen loop index comments. Haven't you? I think we'd both agree if we saw a good comment. I just want to focus on the 'good' part rather than the 'co

I comment for "me in six months" and that works ok. Not perfect, but ok. Nothing says "unthinking clod" to me like a few thousand lines of code with comments where I'm told that i is a loop index.

Jason L. Wright is known by many as "Wookiee" for reasons that may be obvious to many of you. Now I realize that it's been done before, but would it be too much to ask that we consider the term Wookieeleaks when referring to this matter? ;-
