Nobody’s coined a fun catchy phrase for half vibe coding / half real engineering, so I will continue to refer to my AI assisted adventures as vibe coding :) Sometimes I call it vibe coding ++.

Housing regulation should be dramatically improved and streamlined, but we also have a deep cultural problem of nimbyism. Humanity needs to learn how the cooperate much more effectively, or we are going to fuck everything up.

I see your points, but is this actually slop in this case? Is the comment incorrect or misleading at all? It felt interesting and informative to me, but I didn’t verify any of it. Good eye btw.

The law is a much more ambitious attempt at formalization than any programming language, hence the more dramatic failures. Comparatively, programming languages are very constrained. The environments in which they are interpreted and execute

Oh I tried codex for the first time last night with gpt-5. It looked stuck twice when it used the grep tool (after working successfully for minute or so), and both times I canceled after seeing no output for more than a minute. It would hav

Microwaves are relatively simple machines with fundamental limitations in how they cook food. With gen AI, it’s much less clear cut what the long-term limitations are.

The post may not have a ton of meat, but it resonates and seems ripe for discussion. It’s quite timely as we all try to figure out how and when to use these tools. Your comment doesn’t add much. Where’s the substance to your critique?

The current administration, maga folks, the freshly anti-woke techies. Etc Top level comment was referencing the energy policies mentioned in the linked site, which of course left out renewables entirely.

They aren't neutral on energy sources or simply agnostic to environmental impact. They are anti-renewable, because renewable = woke. Tribal politics at its best.

Do you have any example prompts of the level of specificity and task difficulty you usually do? I oscillate between finding them useful and finding it annoying to get output that is actually good enough. How many iterations does it normally

Wait what? So everything is already HATEOAS? I thought the “problem” was that no one was building proper restful / HATEOAS APIs. It can’t go both ways.

Can you be more specific? What exactly is the partial knowledge? And how is that different from non-conforming APIs?

I'll never understand why the HATEOAS meme hasn't died. Is anyone using it? Anywhere? What kind of magical client can make use of an auto-discoverable API? And why does this client have no prior knowledge of the server they are ta

Please describe in detail how biological mechanisms are uncountable. And then you need to show how the same logic cannot apply to non-biological systems.

I wasn’t making a moral statement. It’s a matter of practical reality. Humanity doesn’t really know how to do global policy, even if there are massive potential benefits.

That’s a very cool app, but I think it is missing many, many references to books in HN comments? It only has like 15 total sci-fi books. I don’t see any of my comments mentioning some sci-fi books.
