Agreed. The singleton pattern for state is a non starter for me. Got super wary as soon as I saw `dispatch` get imported and used directly. It's easier to get started, but you'll likely have really nasty problems later (testing, s

It affects things like previews / mouse hovers in editors like vscode, too. Interfaces will show the interface name, types will show the structure.

You also have to consider whether or not you accidentally restored a deleted user's information if you restore one of those backups.

Unless you have native modules and are building on a machine that is different (windows, etc) from your deployment target. And sure, there are ways around that too, but it's not always as simple as copying and pasting the dependencies

If you use named arguments, can't you typically rearrange the order? Don't get me wrong, I use destructured arguments in js and it works fine, but I thought named arguments in other languages solve that particular issue as well.

Strong disagree for the recommended tick rate for csgo. I played a decent amount of competitive cs, from 1.3 all the way to csgo. Lots of competitive server hosts will go up to 120 (ESEA comes to mind) , and the difference between 120 and

Redis and memcached could probably land in the same category. Or at least redis could also fulfill caching needs, most likely. I agree though. Use the right datastore type for the problems at hand. Which often lends itself to multiple datab

I do love nvm, but I'm a little surprised that the source requires an older version of node. I wonder if it doesn't actually require it, but the package.json has the engines prop pinned to v6 anyways.

Some gyms do have pools. I don't swim when I go to the gym, but some people must. I imagine pools at a gym would be better for trying to get in a workout than a public pool.

Docker maybe? I know that's one way to keep a docker container open.

Same here. It's a separate application from the non windows versions though. I seem to remember having to search explicitly for the windows version.

Even some games you might not expect could be in there. Guild Wars 2, for example, consistently uses the vast majority of my cpu.

Not OP, but i love KeePass. I'm not 100% sure what OP is looking for when they said self hosted, but I enjoy that the password database boils down to a single file that I can backup and share (albeit manually).

I used to work at a place where if a meeting did not have a clearly defined agenda and purpose, it was automatically considered optional for all requested attendees. Worked out pretty well.

My most recent serverless configuration file was probably approximately 90 percent aws specific (cloudformation) syntax anyways.

I come from a very non-functional background, but I love f#. Or fell in love with it, anyways. At first I was pretty opposed to both executing functions without using parentheses and also currying as a default. Now I find myself missing tho

If you know those tools exist, maybe. I just put together a new project using cloudformation (technically serverless, but it turned into 90 percent cloudformation syntax anyways), and it was pretty rough.

That's part of the problem, though. For a lot of these games, the player does enjoy them - just not the loot boxes and how they have affected how quickly "free" players can unlock things.
