Ramda has a composition (left to right) function named pipe: https://ramdajs.com/docs/#pipe It's similar to the pipe operator seen in other languages (Elixir, F#, etc). There is a proposal to add a pipe operator t

Yeah, for sure. There are other considerations as well - if game sound is coming over loud speakers, you run the risk of it also being picked up by your microphone when you try to communicate with your teammates.

Pro players almost definitely all use headphones, because they're typically on stage for tournaments with their teammates right next to them and their opponents somewhere nearby. But even when they're not on stage, they're of

Voter disenfranchisement has been part of the playbook for a long time now. Take this issue for example - if this passes, and a teacher gets a felony from suggesting a book off of the pre approved list, they probably can't vote anymore

Being able to work out over my lunch hour is easily one of the best parts of working from home for me. I suppose it was technically possible while working in an office, but such a hassle. Always resulted in losing some workout time around t

Suggesting videos that users don't end up watching is even cheaper. Not a great user experience though.

I got super annoyed at enemies popping in behind me out of thin air, too. Felt like a cheap way to surprise the player, and it got old really fast. Doom 3 as a game sure looked cool, though. The flashlight blew my mind back in the day.

Blogs and websites that post curated lists of new releases for the genres I like. The way I find those sites is by searching for an album I know I liked and seeing which sites have posted about it - release dates, reviews, etc. Works the be

You can usually look around for street signs or shop fronts that include useful information (a website that ends in .nz for example).

That's fair. My favorite language so far has been F#, so maybe it's some of that preference sneaking through.

I've often wondered what it would be like having a variant of Rust that was essentially the same underlying language, but with a garbage collector of some kind instead of a borrow checker and lifetime annotations.

I don't think I'm getting 404s, but the repo's gitlab url does keep bouncing me to a login page. > You need to sign in or sign up before continuing. Has gitlab always enforced that, even for public repos? Or is the linked

Some applications opted for using GET with request bodies as well, for better or worse. Elasticsearch comes to mind. There have been some attempts to extend the list of http verbs to include something that fits those use cases more naturall

This is how I got my most recent Playstation. It wasn't just a queue, though. It was a time limited shuffle of the pool of people who saw a notification with enough time to join the lottery. It still took me months of attempts.

I'm fairly certain those download numbers include CI runs redownloading the not-cached package over and over, likely via a transitive dependency. I don't think it's fair to say approximately half a million unique JS developer

I think that's part of the problem. Because skipping the grind by paying money is seen as a treat, game companies now have the incentive to turn their games into a chore on purpose to convince people to treat themselves.

`git reset --hard ORIG_HEAD` is often enough to "undo" a rebase that went haywire. `git rebase --abort` can be helpful too, if you run into some unexpected merge conflicts along the way.

Yeah. I dislike the hack pipes proposal because it introduces a bunch of syntax that only works mid pipe. F# style and a separate partial application proposal that could work anywhere in js (instead of just in a pipe) seems preferable to me

There's a proposal to add a decimal type to the spec, too. https://github.com/tc39/proposal-decimal Seems like it's a long ways away from being available, though.

Certainly an interesting (for lack of a better word) slippery slope. Could upvoting this hackernews article count as defamation? It's not the same as sharing it, but it would still make the original article more visible to more people.
