Thanks. Yeah, it was a great learning experience about Go, and it also turns out to perform pretty well (50%-90% of the throughput of redis, using redis-benchmark). My hope is to use it for a work related project soon to put more developmen

I thought this thread might be a good place to write about a little project I've been working on for the past few months (in the shadows so far): I've written an experimental abstract database loosely based on redis (or its base concepts) t

I would consider getting tested for ADD. I am not a professional or anything but some of what OP has described sounds to me like the symptoms of ADD.

This. I really love Gnome 3, and I really don't get all the bad vibe it's been getting. With a few extensions you can get back pretty much everything you might miss about it, and it's really slick and stable (especially compared to KDE).

True story: I asked a guy at work if he's seen Django Unchained, and he seriously said "No, and I didn't know we had a Django book in our library"

Or rather: C++ & friends suck, Python & friends are too slow. Quoting from the Go FAQ: >Go was born out of frustration with existing languages and environments for systems programming. Programming had become too difficult and th

As I said, I'm an Android user primarily because it gives me much more freedom without rooting, and the few iOs devices I have (and hardly use) are not jail-broken. But people I've met who jail-break their iPhones do it mainly to pirate app

What I meant is, aren't you limiting yourself to an audience who already chose to go out of their way to save a couple of bucks? they may not represent "ordinary" people and how they value apps.

aren't a lot of people who have jail-broken iOs devices, already by definition people who want paid apps for free? I'm an Android guy myself so I might be wrong here (and your app is an example of non pirate usage for jail-breaking), but I

Same here. I wrote shitloads of C++ in the past 10 years, but looking back, a lot of this stuff could have been written in Python or similar languages. Not being a hipster here, but I've experimented with Go lately, and while it is not read

I've been using this pattern for almost 2 years, and indeed it presented a problem at first with bytecode cache. We've added a simple post deploy script that flushes APC and it fixed this.

Better yet, make sure you remove Unity altogether. I've been using Quantal since beta 1, and while Cinnamon wasn't so stable for me, Gnome 3.6 works smoothly.

exactly. I really like GNOME 3, apart from a few things I can fix with extensions. It's sad to see it losing momentum. That said, Cinnamon is a really nice fork of it, that has the features most users are missing, and while it does bring ba
