I've always been startled by the word 社会人 which literally means "member of society" but AFAICS is used by people when describing themselves conveying the meaning of "I'm a full-time employee" (as opposed to stu

The title is very misleading IMO. There have been quite a lot of questions around D-Wave's quantum computing claims. The linked story is about a paper that shows that the D-Wave machine indeed shows signs of quantum entanglement. The

There are various levels of abstraction when accessing the input stream. The lowest level is by inspecting the input (line) buffer. Just realized how that allows one to write a three-word quine [1] in ANS-compliant Forth: SOURCE TYPE

The WikiReader does have a Forth interpreter embedded in its firmware, but doesn't run it by default. It is activated when pressing the right buttons at boot and allows developers to access a Forth console via serial debug-cable and&#

Not even that, but xargs can also be made to run N processes in parallel ('xargs -P N'), making a find|xargs sed pipe perform much better than anything you could easily invent on your own. Note that 'xargs -P' behaves very similar to 'make

Ever tried to build distribution packages? If it works for you, doesn't mean it works everywhere. Slight errors in the dependency specifications of a package may make it fail if you have wrongly versioned/missing libraries etc. It's ofte

You're right, I overlooked how they restricted their license restriction "The following restrictions apply to everything [..] in these downloads, except for the open source pieces. ". Now it starts making sense.

Quite funny they write that they release to conform to LGPL 2.1 part 6.a. But by writing "You may download those files only for your own use. Customer may not redistribute any work based on those files." they are quite clearly in violation

"the end user must be able to replace the LGPL component" seems to be too one-sided IMO. The user must be able to get the source, modify it, and make his modified version work with any (proprietary) application that chose to use the LGPLed

Seems you haven't suffered through huge C++ projects making use of advanced C++ features. Try boost::lambda for one. Or read the C++ FQA (Frequently Questioned Answers) for an overview of C++ hell: http://yosefk.com/c++fqa/ . I think t

Me, too thinks that this is just (a subset of) MIMO in disguise. The advantage of the antenna array you mention is, that it can precode/decode with any channel matrix, while these antennas implement one fixed matrix.

Not sure that this is new. It is known that channel capacity can be scaled up linearly with the number of receive/transmit antennas by properly de-mixing the signal at the receiver (or pre-coding it properly at the sender). This is known
