HDLs are the textbook definition of a domain specific language (the domain being the description of hardware, either it's behavior or design or both).

I would argue that the prevalence of HDLs proves that DSLs are a good design for problem domains that scale in complexity. The alternative is point and click CAD, which has a ceiling on the scale of complexity you can reach. > Honestly m

I feel like there was a desire from GH to avoid needing a "build" step for actions so you could use `use: someones/work` or whatever, `git push` and see the action run. But if you think about it, the entire design is flawed.

The point was contradicting another comment with my own experience, not to putz around with bug reports or trouble shooting. I don't care about Zed fixing anything - they're Zed's issues, not mine. All I'm saying is that

Maybe, but no other application or editor has this problem. If all other apps work but Zed doesn't then it sounds like a Zed has an issue. EDIT: just gave it a shot and I get "unsupported GPU" as an error, informing me that m

afaik it's not possible to configure buffer size and sample rate from within a user application without exclusive mode, which actually does matter for the non-exclusive use case. iirc it was even worse where applications' streams

This is "don't anthropomorphize the lawnmower" territory imo. I don't think Apple is actively hostile to 3P developers or tries to lock them in. I think they simply don't care - or lack the institutional capacity to

Audio is already asynchronous. But in general no, you can't begin processing a buffer before finishing the previous buffer because the processing is stateful and you would introduce a data race. And you can't synchronize the state

Developers aren't (yet) abusing audio workgroups for all their thread pools to get pcore scheduling and higher priority. So it would imply that if an audio workgroup is issuing commands to the GPU there should be some kind of timeout t

My hybrid SUV halves its mileage over 40-45 mph which is enough incentive for me not to be a maniac. I treat the average mpg as a game, trying to maximize it for my driving pattern. Sucks when I have long stretches on the highway though.
