The auth.getMobileSession method in the 2.0 API, and the scrobble 1.0 API were both sticking points.

Here's the thing: it's not real money. It was a part cash and part shares deal, and the facebook valuation is fantasy till they float. So what they were really arguing here is a) how much cash they could get out now and b) how much instagra

One of my professors once related a quote from an author of one of the course texts. The author declared that you should "make my book the third book you read on this subject", because the third book you read on a subject is always the one

I think that it's some combination of a milk round being a boring and repetitive job (for those who have to go between all the universities) and some sort of youth/milk imagery. I think it's anachronistic as the only person I have ever hear

Actually, we do clean that data up with our corrections system. We have a large fingerprint database which allows us to work out when a track is the same and we update the charts across the site to reflect this. We even expose this as a s

The web stack at Last.fm is PHP, for better or worse. It's certainly not a pretty language. Or consistent. Or advanced. I've got a theory on why so many large websites use PHP though - from Facebook, through Flickr, Yahoo and Last.fm.

I'm pretty sure that apple will be offering big players a better revshare deal on account of their volume. I'm sure their respective legal departments will have their hands full in the coming months. I think what is more interesting is what

Indeed, you are quite right. We frequently target specific artist pages and their related artists and also specific genre and have been for many years. It is a major selling point in a cut-throat industry.

The source of this, afaik, is The Mythical Man-Month. You should read it if you haven't. It does get quoted and mis-quoted quite a lot.
