Julias interop with Python is excellent: https://github.com/JuliaPy/PyCall.jl (also with R, see RCall.jl). It's just not statically typed, so the original problem is not solved - albeit Julia being the better lang

> Java has good to great FP Java does absolutely not have "good to great FP" support. It's an imperative and OO programming language that recently got lambdas, no more, no less.

They can very easily be typed from a regular keyboard, I'm doing it every day. \alpha<TAB>. Also, it's much more readable than typing the characters out like alpha_ij .

I wonder if there's a way for me to go from computational linguistics more towards neuroscience. I'm pretty disillusioned with the neural network approach to ai/nlp/. It seems to become more of a engineering tool than in

I don't know, why did we need Java when CL/Smalltalk/etc. already existed?

And where exactly is the problem with the compiler rewriting tail calls into a loop on the assembly level? Calling this a "lie" is pretty childish.

If you don't get that then I have bad news for you: it's a powerful technique that oftentimes makes code shorter, more elegant, and improves readability.

This shows imo that BioJulia is better, precisely because it validates data and is a broader programming language invented for science, not a DSL that optimises for speed over all else. Besides the new version of BuiJulia seems to perform e

That seems misrepresenting the original points: it can run the vast majority of python programs unmodified AND in some cases outperform Python - not at the same time.
