... and? I've seen similar, in all walks of life. Politicians and civil servants are by no means immune to pettiness. Especially when setting an example might spare them work and money in the future.

That's because spying was his job (or at least, directing the spies). The moral criticism here is that he violated the law he swore to uphold by also spying on his own citizens, and then lied about it.

To be honest, it's this sort of thing that makes me happy to be back on FreeBSD for everything but gaming and DRM media (hi Spotify). Sure there's a little more work to get set up (which I've scripted and put in Gitlab, so it

That's true, but it leaves out the other half of the equation: you'll still likely spend less of your valuable time on your making your Ubuntu installation work, than on anything else (speaking as someone with commercial dev exper

I'm guessing here, as I've never built a sail-propelled interstellar probe :) But I'm assuming that: 1) The characteristics of a good laser-propelled acceleration sail would be different to those of a good solar-powered brak

If it was an artifact - especially a discarded solar sail, explaining the acceleration - there might be a follow-up. Imagine you were making a sail-propelled probe, with the intent of slowing the probe so it was captured by the target syste
