I am not sure it is a good idea to trust the server to decide what is more important. I can easily imagine ads taking higher priority than actual content, just look at the pop-ups that interrupt reading. Browsers and protocol should start c

They cannot inflate the numbers. There is a (free) card system. When boarding the bus you have to validate the ticket. The ticket system is handled by a separate company, not by the bus companies.

Also (correct me if I am wrong), there is no legal trace that the bail money was not from Assange own funds. In other words, if he did surrender according to terms, the money would have gone back to Assange who would have returned it to the

In regards to memory fragmentation, you probably think of GC with compaction. Not all GCs are like that, but that is a plus for GCs if use the heap a lot and need cache friendliness.

We have been waiting for the "sufficiently smart compiler" for around 4 decades now. If it's so easy to write one, where are they?

Your example is a time without a date, which of course does not need a timezone. Any use of the word time above actually meant datetime.

I cannot but disagree: there is no such a thing as time without a timezone. It is just an undefined time. The "local" timezone could be anything and could change any time. Not recording it is just data loss. Java Instant is a time

I never understood this. DI is for deciding program behavior. That should be a user choice. I don't understand how final users are supposed to (1) write XML files instead of providing simple human readable CLI flags, (2) know the progr

Well, the extremely generic interface of Plan9 (plaintext files) can make you use any language. It is the extreme difference with a OS which is in itself one language.

Double citizenships are actually allowed in some cases (dual citizenship from birth, honorary bestowment, etc.) Many grey passport holders are also offered Russian citizenship (with which they could still legally live in Estonia), but they

The reason why many "stateless citizens" don't get their EU citizen right is that as EU citizens they have to pay a visa to visit neighbouring Russia, with the grey passport they have they don't have to (Russia treats th

Ugh, did the author expect Go to make his code magically real-time? That's pretty difficult, GC or not. Also, time.Sleep in a test wouldn't pass code review. A better approach is to timestamp incoming lines and merge them based on

There is no such a thing as incompetence, just people in the wrong position without the proper guidance. (I'm an engineering manager, I would get the blame for such situations, not my employees.)

I imagine that before we have a technical solution that works well enough to be used, natural language (guided by the technological limits) will have dropped such rule in ordinary use.

But the parent's point remains: a Java NPE and a panic because of unwrap are really equivalent. Not really unsafe in the C sense, but equally bad as unhandled crashes.
