Please explain with a case study or an example. IME face to face communication gives the impression that communication happened. The impression that a problem was discussed and solved. When talking people barely listen and just wait for the

The CoL argument makes no sense to me. Why limit yourself to the CoL due to geographical location? How about the CoL of someone who is single and someone who has 2 kids in college? How about the CoL of someone who needs expensive drugs as

I've worked at a dozen startups. Some successful made me a lot of money, most failed miserably. none of them failed because we didn't scale the tech, or use the wrong language or a bad DB schema or whatever. It was always market

A few jobs ago, as a hiring manager I was "invited" to always move female applicants to the phone screen stage. Regardless of the content of the resume. I would have liked to be brave enough to refuse and say that it was stupid. I

Over the past 2 years many studies have actually shown the opposite. People work during what was their commute time, they work when they are sick, during lunch break.

Ha the good old tale of people gathering around the whiteboard to solve hard problem. IME, it's usually 30/60 minutes during which the Architect listens to himself, draws some nice boxes and arrows, overlooks all the edge cases an

Well, see 4 years ago we invested in this new office building with lots of open office space and small conference rooms with shiny whiteboards. Now it's all empty and we need to make sure we can tell corporate it was a good decision. T

How is "20 years in the industry" relevant to your observation/question? How many times have you changed job during these 20 years? When was the most recent time? If the last time you took a new job was 15 years ago then yeah

People don't read job descriptions. 9/10 of the questions I get from candidates during phone screen are answered in the job descriptions. Our stack, our main tools the job's responsibilities and day to day, etc.

Does it even count as debt or balance if you just pay the full statement every time? It never generated interest payments so I wouldn't think so.

What is so complicated to understand about credit cards? Do you really need to have a Nobel in economy to understand that you shouldn't charge for things you won't be able to pay at the end of the cycle?

Hard to explain all the points you've mentioned with one single root cause, but if I were to pick one I would say: people don't care anymore because they're bored. We've reached a level of comfort for most of the populat
