I am not sure I can buy into the "it's a choice" camp. If you were a avid meat enthusiast, you owned your own meat smoker, held barbeques on the weekend, and your license plate said "3atmeat". if you woke up one mor

Agile is not an "it", agile is not static. Application of agile principals means guiding and improving development processes. This is not a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario. As the article suggested, you have to

That sounds amazing. Lately I've been picking up hobbies, like wood working or building more hardware centered projects because day-to-day I design and produce software, which itself is intangible. My girlfriend is from upstate New Yor

Neat. I am all for equivalent look&feel and work flow across different OS's. One thing that strikes me as strange, this looks very similar to Qt Creator[1]. [1] http://doc.qt.digia.com/qtcreator-2.4/creator-ove

I'm having the hardest time following the flow of your statements, which are riddled with assumptions that I, at their base, don't agree with. > A significant portion of software engineers, never even had a scientific education

Just to add to this comment: We do not function in isolation as a single typecast. We are all dynamic people. The football players or "popular people" could also be software engineers. Anecdotally, one of the most athletic people

Hey, don't keep pushing that stereotype on us. Software engineering, much like other disciplines, have people from all backgrounds and capabilities. I hate the idea that the persistence of these beliefs can effect the industry further,

I would think that if one enters into an academic research position, it is for the explicit benefit of that person's chosen field, or humanity at large. If that person wants to privately benefit from their hard work, than I would think

Side note: My relative who works in HR has told me time and again, the appropriate way to say "you look nice" to a co-worker in a professional setting is to not say it . In that setting, beyond grossly inappropriate work attire (

Considering there is no true definition of the term "terrorist, I would speculate that it is a term used to label political dissidence with whom those in power wish to cast in a negative light to quell an ignorant population who are to
