For anyone looking for logo, FMSLogo seems to work well under Wine, and Racket has a logo available, but I'm not sure how complete. Has anyone looked at Computer Science Logo Style ( http://people.eecs.berkeley.edu/~bh&#

I've found that plug-in to work even where sites try to prevent speed control and skipping, for example our various campus mandatory online training courses. This is also very satisfying: document.querySelector('video').playb

I believe this is Richard Guy of "Winning ways for your mathematical plays". It's definitely worth browsing if you're interested in game theory or recreational math.

My area has something called POP club (power of produce?) at the farmers markets. Kids try some sort of produce, decide if they like it or not, and then get $5 of fake money to spend on produce or seedlings. It's really been interest

I remember that pre-1990, PostScript seemed like a miracle. "Computer Shopper" of all things, used to have a PostScript Guru column with all kinds of interesting stuff. All the computer I had access to was an Atari ST with GFA B

I hadn't bothered to check mine until just now. It's a bit surprising who has "uploaded and shared a list with your info". The only one I've actually interacted with is Experian, and I have no way to keep them fro

I have fond memories of some of the old Apple II games, and my kids have enjoyed the ones they've tried. No real emulation of anything physical, usually played by kids in pairs, and the feedback loop was slow enough that you couldn&#x

The first line of M.T. Anderson's novel feed: "We went to the moon to have fun, but the moon turned out to completely suck." It's a dystopian YA novel, but it's a pretty good (and quick) read.

I don't know if Knuth popularized it, but it's somewhat common in combinatorics. Similar idea to using indicator functions when doing change of variables in calculus. https://arxiv.org/abs/math/9205211

I've just been reading "Love and Math" by Edward Frenkel, which I recommend for his view of modern mathematics. His take on Soviet science was that math and physics (and maybe other hard sciences) were mostly left outside of

The other issue is that uBlock Origin development on Safari stopped sometime last year. I still prefer Safari, but Firefox is a close second so I'll just switch if I can't find a good enough adblocker for Safari. And whatever adb

Overnight low of 81° F in Houston tonight, and it probably doesn't get that cool until 2 am or so. There's no overnight cool to soak up. It's also super humid just to cooling more challenging.

Text is sharper, and diagrams with fine lines. PDFs using the standard Computer Modern font look much better onscreen on the retina imac in my office than the mid-2011 imac at home.

On the Mac, the Equation Service or LaTeXit (?) included the source in the PDF so that it remained editable. Maybe the source would be easier to parse, especially if no macros were used.

The field is not static when energized. The hanging ones are not too hard to make with a Hall effect sensor and an electromagnet. This is a good explanation: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/blog.asp?p=electromagnetic-levit...

There are a few adapters that do audio out and lightning in for charging. Apple makes (made?) a dock that was similar. They all have pretty bad reviews unfortunately. USB-C and Android seem to have the same lack of solutions. I was looki
