Philly is great for a startup! See: duckduckgo, RJMetrics, and Curalate. Good talent, good culture, relatively affordable (though the city is definitely getting more expensive as it gentrifies). Also, there is stuff outside the city (countr

> hydras are alive, but do not age The point is that a hydra that does not age is clearly violating the laws of thermodynamics; hence, eventually, they will age (as you pointed out).

I dunno, 45 minutes doesn't seem that bad for a manual deployment from scratch including documentation reading. The equivalent with gcc would be days of work.

Much of what is now a jungle in South America is recent, i.e. a product of the last 500-1500 years. Or rather, we know that many jungled areas were once open. Hence why we are still discovering entire settlements buried deep in jungle.

Who actually uses Scala.js, though? It still seems firmly in the hobbyist camp. > One of main strengths of Scala is that people get things done. This is also true of rust, go, c++, and arguably haskell. I don't see anything about sc

I would argue scala' main selling point is making the jvm palatable to people who hate Java. However, it's entirely unclear without the jvm why I would choose it over, say, rust, Haskell, go, c++, etc.

I wouldn't say you should! I imagine the Inuit have a much more sophisticated understanding of snow than someone from Massachusetts.

Really? Like what? I can think of things like snow (sleet, flurries, blizzard, powder) but not any direct synonyms. We can't hold a candle to the Inuit.

This does not imply a lack of evidence, though. The appropriate response would be to ask for a deeper inquiry. Otherwise you're just enabling scapegoating if you accept the first view without any question.

Just because the evidence isn't there doesn't mean there wasn't downward pressure from management. Look at the art of dodging blame as practiced by VW.

I would argue (from Colorado) that 1/2 inch of snow is more dangerous than even feet: you can get up to speed and lose traction completely if you don't have chains and aren't experienced with snow driving.

3000/month is still absurd. I think 2000 is about the most you can justify on a 100k salary without having risking emergencies bankrupting you.
