Either people in India use the english word "bread" or they have different meaning. I would be very, very weirded out if someone handed me bread and it does not contain ground grain.

OTPs must be phished and then used very rapidly. The ROI for a successful phishing is much lower: a database of old OTPs is much less useful. (I'm sure you could use that to break the secret, but it's definitely not storing the se

I must say, while swift can be very readable, just reading through this article put me off of the language. If you don't work with objective-c or uikit/cocoa, is there a reason to use this over another llvm-based language with cle

I'm not sure what medicine has to do with the economy. If you're a for-profit business, you're a terrible doctor.

If you use a broken hammer to attempt to insert a screw, you're crazy for using the hammer, not because it's broken.

This is a great example of why _alloc is an abstraction over virtual memory. What this doesn't express is that dealing with page allocation directly can be quite annoying to get correct cross platform. You generally don't want to

That sounds like an echo chamber to me. Hardly healthy for a society, let alone an individual. Such alienation from your neighbors!

Good luck illustrating this. Oh wait, why bother in a democracy! People KNOW it's true already.

It's also very difficult to roll back to a previous version of a package unless the maintainers specifically opt in to tagging them. Homebrew also updates itself when you install something now, so say if you install python, it might up

While I agree with your general sentiment—I would also be skittish to refer to them as H&G—I think a few things are clear that we can all agree on: 1. The site well pre-dates current archeological evidence for sustained agriculture. 2.

You don't understand why people might like cabs, trucks, busses, and emergency vehicles? People don't drive their own cars already.

They don't need the information. They care because they are data driven and not personally culpable for their invasions of privacy. Why not collect everything you can without getting more permissions?

No, I think you're following me fine. I was, erm, rather unnerved by the recent DynDNS attack, which is a definite minority of the internet.

While I tend to agree with you, I think the opiate epidemic is salient as an illustration of unintended consequences. Do I think this will lead to addicts? No. Do I think people will get hurt? Most likely; it's not exactly a brisk cup

I actually recommend Haskell. The division between computation and I/O is strikingly similar (and equally difficult to avoid), and they're both declarative systems.

Ahh. So the difference is illustrating who knew what when. Good to know, but it's hard to generate much sympathy in an investment BEFORE proof of concept. I had assumed that would be a civil suit instead of criminal.

Have you ever been bitten by unsafe code? IMHO any metrics would be gamed and prioritized above actually quality. As actual quality isn't suffering, why add the unsafe metric in at all? Seems like paranoia not born out of experience.
