Like the previous commenter, I'm not convinced that OpenAI is worried about this. Anthropomorphizing AI and computers in general has been a problem since before computers existed. It's a trope that goes all the way back to sci-fi

I think it's the second one. I've seen several articles about similar logos and typography taking over all kinds of businesses, not just YC ones. Sometimes these are even rebrands that make the original logo worse.

What I mean here is "companies that don't run LLM servers." That's an expensive business and OpenAI offers it as an easy to use service with an API.

OpenAI is not in the AI business. It's in the platform business. In other words, its biggest customers will make their own AI and LLM-based apps from the services that OpenAI provides. As the first commenter said, they are the first to

3D file formats are fairly standardized, so you can buy 3D models anywhere those are sold and import them or convert them to a format that can be brought into Blender.

Blender is terrific, free, and has lots of community support. It also has a famously steep learning curve, a complex UI, and poor documentation. If you're new to 3D tools, I'd recommend finding a Discord where you can converse wit

People vote with their wallets. It's clear that Americans either want weed or don't care if other people do. This law -- a complete Federal law, tested numerous times and not a loophole -- survives because the public wants the pro

Indeed. The state health department tried to stop it a few years ago. The $8 billion hemp product industry in Texas ended that in about 3 days. The state was found to have no jurisdiction. Recently, there was an "alternative hemp produ

I always find these articles about highly visual subjects that don't show any images to be a little bit under-researched. The Maya language and numeral system is fascinating in part because of its visual beauty. Maya text and design

Nothing says it has to be unlearnable or change at whim. Imagine your bank's website allowing you to say "show me what I earned from Wilco last year" and have it make the UI selections to achieve this. We will absolutely see

Props for the Churchill democracy reference. And so true. This notation problem definitely exists for all synthesizers, not just modular ones, and probably at some level for all new electronic instruments (which are synths under the hood).

The next thing in user interfaces is combining LLMs with GUIs to create a flexible interface that isn't fully defined in advance but works with the user to adapt to their needs. This is a total departure from the pixel-copying design m

The article's title really downplays how much terrific cultural analysis there is here. This write-up has great depth, not only on typography but also architecture, art styles, film, and music! Many links and reference images, too. A w

I second this suggestion. Web components and the shadow DOM provide a fully isolated "namespace" where you can keep CSS from leaking out into other components. You can still include shared CSS in those files so you get the best of

This is a terrific deep-dive from Stephen Wolfram that explains not only how ChatGPT and other LLM applications work "under the hood," but also how they can give rise to logic and grammar -- but notably not math or computation.

This should be clarified to explain that MS is only killing their version of custom GPTs (which run OpenAI tech under the hood). It is still possible to make and use custom GPTs with a subscription to ChatGPT directly from OpenAI. (A few
