Thank you so much! What a nice thing to hear. The short version is that it uses my own engine, called Watson. I used to work for a small game studio inside a big company and my specialty was tooling. I had built my own before I started ther

For a no hacks alternative, I built TV Explorer. It puts the channel's published HLS stream into your browser with no interim steps. Uses the public GitHub list of more than 10,000 free channels. https://tvexplorer.live

Wrong. Many Play Store apps are registered under corporations and give out their contact info. I feel you don't want to make the effort or pay the expense to register one, yet you want the benefits they bring.

Indeed it is, and that's why the Play Store doesn't allow it. When you register a corporation, it is a legal person (in the US). That person is the person selling the goods or services and is legally responsible. That's diffe

That's not what I said, and it's exactly why one makes a corporation.

No, and you shouldn't try. Its disingenuous and dishonest to try and sell something without identifying yourself. If the customer has a problem, should they... just give up? If you did something illegal should they... overlook it? The

It was never "legal" but it wasn't specifically illegal either. Space-based businesses are hoping to grandfather themselves in once laws are established about the use of space, and betting that by then whatever service they o

Awesome! This is much more "X Files" and what we should have had all along. Thank you!

Affinity, mentioned in the article, was acquired by Canva and had its entire UI redone to work just like Photoshop. It's also entirely free with no gotchas.

Many, many businesses do, including ones we all like such as power and water and firemen, etc. Th thrust of my comment was about business and public infrastructure as a social good.

Indeed! That explains the popularity (and realism) of the Oregon Trail game.

Yet. I one was one of the first people in Silicon Valley to have DSL when dialup had that same bandwidth problem. I posit it will be solved.

Because Indonesia has a massive population, far more people than the US and much more densly populated. It's internet users are vastly mobile as opposed to desktop or LAN connections. The US geographic landscape and computer use landsc

But the long tail isn't served. The reality of your statement turns out to be that, if there aren't enough customers to justify an expensive tower or wire, no service will be provided at all.

It occurred to me after reading the original story that if space based internet gets fast enough, we'll stop using any other kind for most purposes. That means, as a platform, SpaceX could carry a significant amount of the entire world

One thing that's clear: Steve Jobs never believed in any "personal" computer that you own. What he made and sold were devices that Apple would own and control forever.

I hear ya. I was more aiming at the idea that every new tech, no matter how transformative and later obvious, is not obvious nor even necessarily desirable to the population when it is introduced. Tech needs explanation and even inducemen

I just finished a long RV trip and I can tell you it's hard to underestimate the importance of internet access (which also means Wi-Fi calling and access to maps and weather) across our entire, enormous nation. It's important not

If we can get internet from the sky, it's hard to justify digging up the earth with cables for the same thing. I realize Space X "pollutes" space and astronomy is also important, but it's not more important than communic

It's fascinating to think that sound recording was so new it had to be explained. People needed examples of what someone would record or play back and why. Every new technology goes through a period like this.

Who will write the tool that scores HN threads by the number of information-carrying posts versus those that are completely irrelevant, off topic, personal rants, ad hominem, etc? I'd bet that after a certain level of attention, the ma
