The article fails to mention the human labor and environmental conditions created by diamond mining, and one of the main benefits of giving it up. De Beers may mourn that diamonds are no longer rare, but sugar and electricity were once rare

I hate it. It's a shell game designed to hide the price at which they're actually willing to sell the ticket.

This comment, too, would have more to say had the author seen the movie. I'm not sure I love this trend of opining on an obvious and current topic without reflecting on a big piece of it. It feels like the intent is to get out one'

This is pure PR spin. Roblox is a known playground for predators and an unsafe place for children, and the company profits from their exploitation on the platform.

Thanks, but why does it need to take so long? More importantly, why would ice cream need fake color? What flavor would warrant that? The story also links to three other big food manufacturers who are phasing out these dyes... over multi-yea

Like The Browser Company, that gave up on Arc to make Dia, an "AI browser" that's sure to have an equally short life. I get that everyone wants to be a platform and to live where the user is all day, but getting folks to swit

I don't know the exact limit but a tiny sample is allowed as part of another presentation. The YouTuber Techmoan has mentioned and respects these limits and plays audio during his equipment tests. Playing full songs without a license c

That's strange because all the notable implementations of web components that I'm aware of are first party. YouTube, Discord, Slack, Adobe. MS and Alaska Airlines released libraries (in Lit) but does anyone use them? I think the r

Photoshop for the web isn't a "port" of the application. It was rewritten with web components for the UI and WASM for the image processing routines. The most notable thing about PS in the browser is web components, not WASM.

No comparison. The previous theory of AI was that we would accumulate and structure expert knowledge so that it could be repeated deterministically -- to train computers on things like medical diagnosis. The current theory of AI is best des

Since you're vibe coding, just pick a tool and type that exact thing in as the prompt. Cursor is the best all-in-one tool for software dev with LLMs. I think you'll learn a lot, including what can and can't be done with the v

It's the opposite. I can provide a rigorous description of how LLMs are built and operate (and have done so)[0]. There is no intelligence, however defined, in that process. It is the ultimate in rote behavior. Furthermore, LLMs are n

It should be clear already that LLMs aren't a path to intelligence since they don't contain or exhibit any. Knowing this, there is no approaching "singularity" of advanced machine intelligence.
