i'm also guessing they didn't test different temperament tunings either, which is a shame given that the whole argument for 432Hz has to do with mathematical symmetry

If you ask me, honestly a good quality DAC sounds better playing a 320kbps MP3 than a bad DAC sounds playing a 96/24 WAV of the same recording.

I don't know if I'm too detached from reality at this point, but I have such a hard time believing VR headsets and the "metaverse" is going to be the future. This seems like a solution looking for a problem. But who know

Exactly, the Cambridge Analytica scandal really did irreversible damage to Facebook's brand amongst non-techie people.

From my experience most people in the EU absolutely do hate Facebook and Instagram, but keep using them because that's what their friends are using for messaging and social media. Quite a catch-22.

Absolutely agree with you 100% on the mouse situation, they are, and have always been, horrible. But my favourite keyboard of all time is actually the aluminium chicklet Apple keyboard. It’s just so satisfying to type on to me. Mechanical k

All valid annoyances, but I really think OP should try using another brand of Bluetooth headphones for a week just to get some perspective of how well AirPods "just work" compared to the competition. Manually having to re-pair onc

I wouldn't necessarily call it terrible, as all the big 3 cloud storage services just wrap Web UIs in a window instead of doing a fully native app. The file syncing functionality works just fine for me every time, compared to iCloud, w

Agreed. The recent Google Drive update which completely broke file metadata on Mac OS, along with it often times mounting twice, requiring a reboot to fix it, prompted me to test out all the different cloud storage solutions. As stated in t

I’ve noticed some sort of image post-processing on the newer iPhones that removes noise and graininess, and instead adds this fake smoothness to all pictures. Haven’t found a way to disable it, save for shooting in RAW, which is impractical

The main point that voids the entire “dislike brigading is toxic/bad for creators’ mental health” argument is that the comment section is still open. Who’s to say brigading won’t just move there instead? I’m betting people get hurt mor

Good point, but I just checked and DoH has been disabled this whole time. The difference isn't that dramatic, but shaving off around 100ms on every page load really adds up in the end.

My daily driver is a 2014 MacBook Pro and I just recently switched to Firefox from Safari. It's so much faster it's not even a fair comparison – I feel like I've gotten a whole new computer. Even compared to Chrome it loads p

Just tried all the big major cloud drive apps, and OneDrive was surprisingly much better than both Google Drive, Dropbox and even iCloud Drive on MacOS and iOS. Thoroughly impressed - thanks, I had not considered Microsoft.

While I absolutely agree these inconsistencies are completely against the Mac OS philosophy, it's hard to not acknowledge how old the codebase must be starting to be, 20 years down the road. Windows has the same issues, where you'

After the horrendous recent Google Drive update I decided to give Dropbox a try for the first time in 8+ years, and the software quality has truly taken a decline. I’m considering switching to iCloud Drive at this point but I’m not a huge f
