Well I guess I’m “that guy” who finds it highly interesting as an outsider with a very high interest in search. Never knew what tools Google’s using (never bothered to look it up either) and this list is a feast of “Aha!”’s for me :) Hopefu

Thanks for explaining. Mind boggling stuff... how can things like that even be patented? By those standards I could have filed a few myself ;-)

Agreed. Both at the end of a life, and the start of one. The rationale around abortion tends to follow the same warped logic in my experience :) The subjects are very emotional ofcourse, which makes doing “the right thing” extra hard in the

Definitely positive, regardless of motives. One number that jumped out was 23.740 patents in 20 years! That’s almost 23 patents every -week-. Is that normal for a company Toyota’s size? Do Apple, Samsung and others file the same amount in t

My setup for the past 2 years has been a 34” 3440x1440 Dell Curved Widescreen on max height with my 15” Macbook in front. Combined with MacOS Spaces it’s perfect productivity wise. Extra screens would just be Screen sprawl. Learned somethin

Could you elaborate for a bio know-nothing like me? It comes across as a very dismissive comment when one of the scientists is quoted saying: "You would inject this virus into a person's eye and, a couple months later, they'd

I wondered the same thing and then stumbled over “Behind the Curve” on Netflix. It was an eye-opener. You’ll learn where it came from and more importantly, how to handle people with these beliefs. It changed the way I will approach the topi

Correct me if I’m wrong but neither one supports Javascript rendered pages? You’re right in the overhead though; I’d stay miles away from Electron for scraping but you’ll need more than a CURL wrapper to properly fetch data in all shapes an

What would you do with this solution that can’t already be done with headless browsers, apart from looking at it? It’s very much like that already: write script, send to browser, let it do it’s thing, run javascript code if you want and get

I wouldn’t call it opposite, more alternative technique. The things that bug you -are- the things you care about. Some people care way too much about things they shouldn’t but that’s a whole other discussion all together ;-)

Wait a second... what’s stopping you from changing —this— situation then? Solve the data format problem. Make it easier for everyone to exchange data in meaningful, efficient ways. Sounds like a terrible pain that you understand well enough

I think you already answered your own question when emphasizing ‘public’ there. Security isn’t fun, and at best a relief (when nothing is found). When a pentest was successful, as in, the tester got in you can be sure it’s kept under wraps.

Thanks! There’s a reason large enterprises spend a ton of resources on security while SMBs are vulnerable on just about every public attack surface: priorities. Well that and expectations. Most small business owners see security as part of

Yes. It seems stupid, but what you outline is a 100% match with what I’ve seen in practice. Until it happened to them, the other company was stupid and careless - not them. At risk of repeating myself I’m chalking this up to basic human beh
