I've made my point clear. If you think web browsers should not have the ability to play any audio that's a different topic than whether an OEM gets to pick and choose which parts of a standard to implement and which devices can support it.

>If that breaks web games -- tough luck. It's worse than that, it breaks the standard. Audio API can no longer be used reliably if a major portion of the audience can't utilize it. Remember when days when one major heavyweight would

No. They've done this to prevent web sites from outputting sound when they're loading (or just as they're done loading). The Audio API's .play() method is now always disabled. It was working on the iPad iOS 4.1 only through a hack, but A

Because of whitespace and line break sensitivity you can't dynamically generate serialized CoffeeScript (unless delicately handled) because it won't compile.

I really wanted to like CoffeeScript but that it can't be metaprogrammed and serialized (easily) is a huge problem for a scripting language. I guess scripting was never the point of CoffeeScript, but a lot of what makes JavaScript so flexi

The concept of "files" were an abstraction in the first place. The icon, or the row in my directory list output that says "/Documents/file.xml" is simply an abstract way of visualizing "where" and "what" that particular data represents. Wh

After the lawsuit I think investing in RIM or their platform isn't a good idea. That RIM was more willing to "kick" this company to the curb and serve them a lawsuit, rather than perhaps acquiring an innovative team and hot messaging platfo

You mean people don't work 7-to-12 days in a row until they crash, then take a day and a half off, and repeat the process over again? Pfft, lightweights.

Apple definitely wants a piece of the mobile advertising market otherwise they wouldn't have created the iAd network. And I speculate Apple will drop Google from the Safari search box at some point and replace it with a custom location

I'm not in SF but from what I can see, the programming job market is only good these days for "rockstars" willing to work for entry-level salaries. There aren't very many good, high-paying programming jobs these days. Everything is entry

You should read the contract you signed thoroughly instead of assuming anything. You could also be upfront with your employer, bring the contract in, and have it modified before making any decisions.

I wonder what this fellow would have thought about work 100 years ago or more. The amount of "slavery" that a person has to do today to sustain himself has never, in the history of mankind, ever been lower than it is today. We should be s

With this much money you obviously don't want to be dropping the whole lot into the market at one point. If this were 2009 it would've been a great decision, but after a 2-year bull run that looks like it's petering out I'd probably opt to
