No surprise there, if you don't want any service collecting any of your data, don't use their service. Unfortunately, that doesn't go far enough. I don't use FB, but that doesn't mean it doesn't collect my d

Do you have an example which correctly solves the problem but takes too long? Behold var AGESORT = rows.bubblesort("AGE ASCENDING") var AGESORT1 = rows.bubblesort("AGE DESCENDING") var MALE = "None"

Do you really think you need unbounded storage? This is an example of a trap that interviewers run into when they try to arbitrarily reword questions. While I could be mistaken, an exact solution to the top-k problem requires O(N) space w

In the given case, it's actually the "English words" limitation that saves the question. An exact answer to top-k problems is O(N) is storage space where N is the number of distinct items. So since N is ~200k, it's not

The two statements, as mentioned by gfody, are not equivalent. For the first statement, there can be any number of output rows based on the join condition. For the second statement, by definition, there can only be output row per input ro

Without judgement, here is an explanation of those items mentioned above: 1.) Don't use user defined functions in any predicate. In order to evaluate a predicate (WHERE clause, HAVING clause, JOIN condition aka boolean comparison), th

I have found that Use The Index, Luke is a good reference when looking at optimizations. It's also nice that it covers most of the major SQL databases, so you can see differing optimizations and how to handle them. http://

If the requirement is to read CSV files from a third party, then suggesting HDF5 isn't helpful. If the requirement is to write CSV files to send to a third party, then suggesting HDF5 isn't helpful. So this limits the usefulness o

More specifically, there are several mental disorders that are defined, in part, by a lack of empathy (ex: Narcissistic Personality Disorder). Attempts to "increase people's empathy" will likely fail on those individuals.

Another way to look at this is that hg needed to bake this into their core, whereas git didn't need to. There is a non-zero cost to all additional code, so leaning on the shell to do work is generally a smart move.
