Fortran doesn't have templates. Frankly, I doubt modules will ever exist for C++, because they seem fundamentally incompatible with templates. To me, people that complain about modules being delayed look like people complaining that th

That's a really bad way to solve that problem, it relies on other systems following a protocol that they have no reason to even know exists. A much better way to solve it, which is already being done (to some degree of success) is to c

I don't really buy his argument. Lots of other companies with plenty of resources have been attacking this problem, including Facebook and Baidu. People have been talking about Go AIs for decades. If it was just a matter of throwing a

The main thing mex does is let you link to the matlab API libraries that are otherwise hard to get. To work around this, I like to just grab the API directly from the calling process via dlsym/GetProcAddress. That way, you can build me

I think there's a dramatic difference in search 10 years ago compared to now, due to better natural language understanding, which is very much an "AI" technology IMHO. I've had to un-learn my search query habits from the

This makes sense. I stopped using google shopping a long time ago precisely because it seemed like so many of the results were junk for whatever reason (staleness is a likely reason). "Junk" meaning the search result did not lead

Can you explain how they are related? My understanding of this is that malicious code was deliberately added to Juniper's software, not that it exploited some existing code that Juniper thought was safe. This could happen regardless of

This argument is also commonly made in the context of the pool from which companies search for candidates to hire. The problem with both situations (VC/entrepreneurs and employers/employees) is that there's a cost associated

Seconded, Mindstorms EV3 are great. Check out ev3dev (www.ev3dev.org) if you want more programming options. You can build some serious robots with this setup, but it's still pretty easy to use.

DSPs generally aren't necessarily that much more powerful than a CPU, their advantages are usually one or more of the following: - Special instructions to help with common DSP tasks (e.g. circular buffers, nice fixed point/roundin

Unfortunately, the math required for circuit simulation does not lend itself to parallel implementations, whether it be on a GPU or otherwise. I built LiveSPICE (linked elsewhere in the thread), so I fought a lot with this problem :) A smal

The LINQ expression compiler also lets you generate expressions at runtime and compile them, it's an amazingly powerful feature: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb397951.aspx

FOIL is the worst offender in my experience tutoring people in math. I recall several instances of people being completely stumped when trying to multiply a trinomial and a binomial, because they couldn't figure out how to apply FOIL
