Thanks, I think. :) <self-serving-crap> For the record, we're a bit different from many startups in that we believe in "User Generated Revenue" (what was previously known as "sales"). We're growing revenue (not traffic) at double-

My startup, HubSpot ( http://www.HubSpot.com ) is built on ASP.NET. Though there are certainly irritations and annoyances, it has worked fine for us.

I'd suggest writing a blog yourself and establishing some credibility. Given your target market, this seems like a good thing.

We're using YUI too. Has worked well for us so far.

Well said. One thing that was glaringly missing from Joel's article was the importance of taking in user feedback and iterating like crazy. I'd go so far as to say that iteration is even more important than fine-grained estimates.

It's one thing to put put a store in the mall. It's another to pay the landlord for every customer that walks in, make heavy renovations and investments to the degree that it's almost impossible to ever move out.

I'd be curious as to whether YC companies should be considered "self-financed". It's kind of like taking money from a really smart family member that happens to be very well connected.

Too vague. I'm guessing there are lots of folks looking for co-founders who can hack and design.

This is way better than the original article. Takes a more detailed look at what might be going on over there. I think the key point (for me) was the notion that great developers like to build new things.

Yeah, this is one of the issues they've had for a while. There's a fine line between having opinionated software and having stubborn software that doesn't respond to user feedback.
