I doubt this battle will be settled (or even affected) by the fact that MS was first to market with this feature. Who has the better integration and implementation is far more interesting.

Precisely. This is an education issue which we should try to address, not just say "well, they'll all be dead soon enough anyway"

That's a rather severe position when you consider that the children are the ones who will pay the price for the parent's ignorance. I don't think most people would be comfortable with letting the children of ignorant or misinformed parents

It's really frustrating that we can't get honest numbers on how much it takes to bring a drug to market. In the anti-pharma camp you see people quote the manufacturing price, and then you get the pharma companies quoting their entire operat

More than two-thirds of businesses are started at home; only 21% of all businesses employ someone other than the owner. I'm wondering how many of these are ebay or amazon.com storefront type "businesses". More and more I'm getting the fee

It's a calculated risk. Some companies refuse to settle for certain classes of litigation in the hope that it will deter people from bringing frivolous suits down the road even if it means paying more in legal costs up front.

Do the carriers care? Google will still need a carrier and the carriers only care about having the "cool new phone" to the extent that it gets consumers to sign contracts with them. Why should they care if the phone comes from HTC or Google

A CEO’s job is to hire people to do different tasks, tell them what to do and make sure they get it done. So a startup CEO is a regular company's project manager with hiring powers added? That doesn't sound right...

This is what I was trying to get at. I think there's a whole class of people out there who just like to build things. Being king means responsibility and headaches. Being rich is nice but once you get past a certain point it all becomes abs

Did we need the cash? No, we didn’t need the cash. We had over $6 million in the bank. But, if I’ve learned one thing about VC fund-raising it’s that not needing to raise money helps a lot. VC is a strange beast...

How does the Rich vs King dichotomy account for the serial entrepreneurs who have fairly big exits (and guaranteed comfort for life) and do it all over again minus the branding/prestige of their previous venture?

I think C models how the computer works a lot more closely than C++ (and no one would argue that C isn't carrying water out in the engineering world even today). IMO C++'s issue is precisely that it layers all of these leaky abstractions on

Except in this case neither can agree which one is Mercedes and which one is Honda. MS will never admit to be uncool and workmanlike, and Apple will say their machines can run just as well in big enterprises.
