I agree with you and the first question that came to my mind was: what constitutes political discussion? I believe that, like it or not, the cat is out of the bag and Hacking/technology in general is very much entwined with politics.

So it would appear the most interesting data point on these records is the date and time of the breach discovery, or using that to estimate a breach date? Correlating that with some other publicly available data sets (e.g.: historical rou

Yes and you have to keep in mind that just because someone has the legal authority to seize your posession, you have no reason to trust that what they will do with it will be legal as well. For all you know they can do any number of stupi

Right - and apparently this is exactly what you should do. Always travel with throwaway and/or wiped devices. Don't trust a device that's been seized and returned.

One of the interesting points raised in the original Trusting Trust paper was exactly this - that next level of trust can again be subverted via microcode modification, and so on and so forth. I really don't view Trusting Trust (in the

Great writeup! And actually a fun idea for an intro to rust compiler internals. I'll be stepping through this in detail later. It would be extra cool if you had a series and did this with Go as well :)

I agree. And yes though that is inferrable from my anecdote, in fact I wasn't being pedantic. I actually probably used the terminology wrong myself, but all I really meant was, "what are your latency requirements in this system?

Believe it or not - many folks coding out there don't even understand the meaning "real time" in this designation. I recall asking some colleagues in a conversation, "So when you say 'real time' do you mean har

This is a good point. In a certain sense, all your webmail accounts are already compromised. It's just a question of "by whom" [edit: substitute 'cloud' for 'webmail' to get an idea of the full range]

From experience (retina mbp 2015, 15"), I would highly recommend you do not try to run Ubuntu (or other Linux) on newer Apple hardware. Take the money you'll save by buying a "lower end" laptop/desktop x86 machine
