It's no secret that the "going rate" for startups that are successful and get acqui-hired is $1-2M per engineer. It's hard for big companies to find talented engineers, and so when they acqui-hire, they can just instantly shuffle those smar

GoDaddy shut down the website. The government complained about it. I see a very important distinction there.

Let's not get out of hand here. This didn't happen because it was in the US, this happened because the domain was on GoDaddy. Having your domain hosted with a reasonable registrar would have been enough to prevent this.

Fair enough, although that wasn't posted at the time I made that comment (which is why I asked). Although to be fair, the SS just made a request, and GoDaddy had no responsibility to comply, they did so on their own accord without any type

There's no evidence whatsoever that this was a US govt take-down. Everything we've seen so far indicate that it was GoDaddy's doing.

I wouldn't be worried about "someone with more resources" putting out of business "someone with small numbers". I would be more worried about my numbers attracting a very talented startup team into my market.

Obviously, that's true of some startups, but very wrong in others. Working at Weebly, you have similar hours to BigCo (although you'll be 10x more productive), paid market rate (or slightly above), and receive your fair share of the outcome

Spend a couple weeks in a third world country and go shopping often. Start with a local to see how it's done and then practice by yourself. Street vendors are the absolute best negotiators (even over very small sums of money).

Agreed. The "standard journey" for a big, meaningful startup is more like 7 years. A "long journey" in my book would be 10-15 years. With some very notable exceptions (YouTube, Zynga, Groupon), built-to-flip and talent acquisitions dominate

Here's a wild, random-ass guess: - Let's keep it simple and say that since this is an experienced team, the investors invested $20m at a $60m post, so they have 1/3 of the company. Since it is an experienced team, I'm going to guess no part
