I store my keepass file like this and surprisingly the best storage provider for this I have found is Sugarsync. It's possible to have the file and changes end up on ALL of my devices, including my phones basically automagically. Check it o

Yeah, but your standard costs for not crazy huge amounts of data aren't as competitive as I've been able to find. We're storing on a competitor for about half what you guys charge and they provide rsync/ssh access.

I've heard of them, but you think this commenter wasn't simply a troll? Could be so, but I question how useful it would be here. HN is pretty well known, but enough to have concerted campaigns in place?

Depends on your experience level. If you have never setup postfix/exim/sendmail to do more than accept local mail then it will indeed be a giant headache. With a bit of work with dovecot and postfix you can have yourself a very nice mail-se

You can make those associations in other contexts and I would fully agree with what you said here. A person can be a terrorist regardless of race, creed, religion, etc. The same for hackers. That said, the article is specifically discussing

Well, it just goes to show what most people know already: That there is a vast campaign by the Chinese government to carry out hacks on foreign (and internal sometimes I bet) targets. Basically, the thing I took away from the article is tha

Wait, what? How is this racist? If the story said 'All Chinese are hackers', that would be racist. If the story said, which it did, 'A person who lives and works in China for the government spy academy is a hacker', that is not racist. Edit

It's a combination of both. Java is on nearly every platform out there at this point in one form or another... and the 'Oracle' version of it is full of enough holes to drive the asteroid that just passed by earth... through.

I have a good friend whom works there. I'm crossing my fingers this turns out well for all concerned and doesn't end up just being another dump-and-run type buyout.

I disagree. I never said anything about teaching everything you know. I can explain to someone why a certain metal in a product is better than a less expensive metal without getting into advanced materials science/crystal theory yet not use

This completely. If you cannot explain something to someone else whom has no innate knowledge of the subject, using plain language, then your command of the subject is questionable at best. True command of a subject in my opinion contains w

It's mostly because we're in a bit of a bind as far as NK is concerned. As long as China supports/props them up we can't realistically 'attack' NK. Once China drops support for them you can bet that the regime will fall quickly, and/or Chin

Actually, that is incorrect. It's relatively easy to determine if an 'earthquake' is a natural occurrence or if it is from a test like this. http://seismo.berkeley.edu/blog/seismoblog.php/2009/05/25/of...

Well, the community for Puppet is good, but oddly there are many modules (what Puppet calls a 'cookbook') missing for some relatively trivial things. For instance, I have written about 10 modules now for various system utilities/resources/s

Well, if you're using Chef and just using pre-existing cookbooks I'd say you take away 90% of the power of a CM system. So yeah, probably using Chef you have to know Ruby, full-stop. For admins whom have a history with Ruby that's not a hug

Congratulations to the Chef crew! Here's one thing I still am wondering though, being a relatively heavy Puppet user now. What are the big benefits to using Chef, or would it be mostly just admin choice here? When I was originally deciding

And I'd say that's a bit sad. As someone whom uses the WP platform I have to say as far as software goes, MS really developed a great product. Everything just WORKS, whereas with my Android phone it ends up being the platform to 'tinker' wi

I can attest to this being the case. I mentioned it elsewhere in the thread, but we're in e-commerce and when walmart.com went down around black friday last year we saw a 20megabit jump in traffic until their site came back up... and we're

In this case it is pretty pedantic I'm afraid. Engine subcontracting is pretty standard in aviation. Nearly all of the engine types I can think of are either GE or Rolls-Royce. It's kind of like Rotax for motorcycles and Snowmobiles... give

Excuse me, what? FUD? I wasn't spreading FUD, I was saying that people overuse shared keys and end up putting themselves in situations where they are open to easy exploitation if they don't use them right. People will generate a key and the
