Maybe. Tail recursion optimizes itero-recursive algorithms, turning them into iterative algorithms by eliminating the overhead. Confused? Here are the iterative, recursive, and itero-recursive ways of writing the factorial function: f

Even that's not an absolute assurance, as millions of people who have failed to renew expired domains can attest. And the HTTP status codes have a whole block of redirect codes while just about every web server permits backend proxies. When

Brevity is a feature of clarity, and clarity usually attends very powerful notions like reuse and application to a new domain. What's truly orthogonal is some notion of "expressiveness" or "teachability" or otherwise being-able-to-read-and-

This is a common mistake in security -- assuming that the hacker plays by your rules. The police would just use a copy of the program which forgets to delete when the "on duress" password is provided. I imagine it'd require commenting out a

I commented on the original but I think that others here might also value this here: I liked this post and the way that it turns the question of piracy upon itself, but I still felt like there were about three dramatic ideas missing, so I w

Well, let me phrase it a little more analytically, then. The biggest reason to switch UTC to atomic time is hacker-cultural. Basically, many countries have said, in law, "we use UTC." This causes most specifications -- in particular NTP, Ja
