I think you looked at correct data but got to the wrong conclusion. The software industry is relatively young. How many people started as programmers 30 years ago? much much less than 10 years ago or last year. In the mid-90s, the software

Way to go! Waze is a fantastic app. I usually turn it on already on my way to the car.

I get a little too much spam from LinkedIn. The default mail digest option is daily, and unless one changes it each time after joining a new group, one can expect an inbox flood

It boils down to common sense. My approach is to try to writing the code reasonably efficient, but initially, readability, maintainability and simplicity take precedence over performance. I wouldn't write a more hacky or complex code just f

Why not offer a "free-plan" as well? In early stages what frameworks need the most is adoption.

Haha... found this article from 2000 - http://asia.cnn.com/2000/TECH/computing/06/30/wearable.pc.id... I guess the technology wasn't ready (Win98...), and also probably the world wasn't ready. Is the world ready for Glass?

The tech industry itself is mostly young. Of course, there were developers 20 years ago, but the big increase in number of people working in tech was as of the mid 90s. So there aren't that many people aged 45+ working in the tech industry

My simple rules when working from coffee shops: 1. Don't take up space when the place is full (when the place is empty they should like to have you in) 2. Order reasonably - not just one coffee for 2 hours. Get at least 3 items for a few

I guess crisis PR is exponentially more challenging in today's social media reality. They can't just talk to a bunch of reporters to bury a story.

Agree - it's very important to have idle time and let you mind run free, without solving any immediate problem. For me, the best ideas come during long showers, when starting to fall asleep, and when waking up.

Yes, makes sense to eliminate the input field, and save screen real-estate, mostly for smaller mobile devices.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. It's amazing what you can do inside the browser these days. Any thoughts of integrating it with SVG? SVG is super useful for drawing and manipulating shapes in the browser.

I worked with statically typed languages (mostly Java) for many years and just recently started working with dynamic languages (python and javascript with node). I think it depends mostly on the task at hand... if you're on a small project

Agree - "design by committee" is a disaster and you many times get something mediocre, full of compromises. On the other hand, interaction, corridor-talks and chance encounters are key to idea-exchange which is also important.
