I've been using the Pixel 4a 5G for about 6 months with MicroG and Lineage. Works really well. Other than Whatsapp and Google Maps I don't miss anything, but those apps have alternatives too.

Funny coming from Honda. My parents own a 2017 (I think) Civic and the only way to adjust volume is by tapping +/- on the touchscreen. It's the most unusable volume adjustment I've ever experienced. It was completely unusable

That's a huge, huge advantage. Even doctors and lawyers can only serve a small number of clients. While software can be reused and enable large deployments. These margins make all the difference.

I have my workstation setup to plug in a single USB-C port that charges my laptop and drives my monitor, headphones, keyboard, mouse and a USB-A hub. To me USB-C is a god send. I don't understand why people have such negative reactions

Alberta pays about the same. This is still a long shot from the US and is a major factor why we're always gonna be stuck with a brain drain to the US.
