IMHO those bad examples are more or less bad, because of the high expectations and reputation of the company that released the language. Having in mind the age of Swift this site would not be so surprising if behind it there was a smaller t

If the authors are here, I suggest them to do a KickStarter project. I think it would be valuable.

Usually comments like this are not good. My tip : don't go radical in your opinion. Sayings like : "This is shit, that's awesome!" are just not true. Developers are always struggling to find a solution of their problem.

The best performance benefit will come if the whole page is pre-generated with something like jekyll [1] or assemble [2]. There is even a grunt module that uploads the generated site to S3, which is HN-traffic proof. Of course if you need s

I hope I don't put oil in the fire, but OS X is more close to any Linux ( since it's unix based ) than Windows is going to be, which makes a great difference for any developer. I can benefit all available *nix tools in it's n

I'm regularly using IE for testing with VirtualBox and images from Microsoft's official site [1]. Though I doubt there is a possibility to do the other way around with Safari on Windows. [1] http://modern.ie/

That's true, but for many reasons it helps, when you are in doubt for a way to do something. I usually use a lot of CoffeeScript's ideas. Namely class inheritance. Of course when I work in a team or on a big project I don't e

I also agree with what you are saying. JS in terms of usage is so big that I guess developers behind JS compilers will have to optimize for "the most popular way of solving that problem". In any case, why I mentioned preprocessors

One of the greatest things about preprocessing languages is that they usually use optimized and hard-tested features of the specific language. Let's examine CoffeeScript ( which is one of the most popular ) : class Foo cons

I agree. A couple of days ago there was a mention about Wirth's law [1], which reminded me how far we went with containers. I'm using vagrant for development and sometimes I run 2-3 containers with the same project. My MacBook has
