I don't understand your comment (or this is related to the lack of good introductory material noted in another comment). You can retrieve the results of promises in parallel, serially, or via some combination of both. That's par

I second this. I'm especially interested in how other people model their data for App Engine's store. Did you have any difficulties there?

Good question. That's where longer-term measurement comes in. Overcoming ad blindness is a transitory thing that goes away after a period of time while engagement tends to stick (as measured by CTR, say).

I use Evernote for all my serious text storage needs, but nvAlt (a really great fork of NV linked elsewhere) is just so damn fast that capturing whatever random bit of information is frictionless. I tend to use it these days as a scratchp

That’s why it was left to wizards, who knew how to handle it safely. Not doing any magic at all was the chief task of wizards—not “not doing magic” because they couldn’t do magic, but not doing magic when they could do and didn’t. Any ignor

Okay, I will. First, for the record, I think it's helpful to not define this surveillance in terms of illegality or unconstitutionality. By definition, if the branches of the US government have enacted this (executive made the policy

Sounds fine to me, no Nazi comparisons needed here. But I was speaking to the grandparent comment's world-weariness WRT politics being all mixed up in his/her technology.

If you knew this was happening and had proof before two weeks ago then you've got a great point. This is different. Now there's proof . Leaked documents implicating the largest consumer Internet companies that are recognizable na

I can't think of any single topic more important to the health of the Internet as we know it then this, right now. Sorry to be harsh, but dismissing these discussions as merely "politics" is short-sighted and naive.

I guess anyone with half a brain would hire a really good legal team that would probably arrive at the optimum initial salvo in a lawsuit defense: * No direct access. * Never heard of Prism. * We review each request. * We want more governme

Makes sense to me: they can't say the government has no access to their servers because, of course, the US courts could compel access to their servers. They're US companies. But a running process or piece of hardware sitting in th

I can't quite recommend that book. A lot of the code examples contain errors and, worse, some of them are subtle errors in nomenclature (the text refers to the "myService" service but the code declares it as "service" in one place and then

These are hands-down the best AngularJS tutorials on the web. I've read and watched every AngularJS tutorial I can find on the web and nothing compares to the clarity and gentle introductions these videos provide.

Why didn't she just say it like that? She did! What do you think "racism is a position of the oppressor who has the power" meant? No one said that racism is exclusive to any race. Of course not. That'd be stupid. But it also seems deliber

I don't think the number of documents mattered in this case, legally. One or one hundred thousand, the crime was the same. I think the numbers helped sensationalize it, sure.

There's definitely a "being an ass" component to this, no doubt... but one could argue that presenting two records to a journalist implies a small security hole. 100k of them is a giant security hole.

I think a more useful analogy is this: there's a large municipal building in town that stores a lot of its citizen's vital records, and they've been slipshod on security. You gather evidence about just how slipshod they've been and turn it

Forgive my ignorance if I missed your point, but this is more of a SOC than just a processor; from the article: "The KL02 has 32k of flash memory, 4k of RAM, a 32 bit processor, and peripherals like a 12-bit analog to digital converter and
