HP already has a hold of this pile. I wouldn't just assume that because they're exiting the hardware business they have no (future) need for that portfolio. Heck, if anything, they'll have to hold on to those if they hope to license webOS

I'm astonished that they aren't even going to bother selling it off. With the Google/Motorola merger, surely one of the Android partners has to be feeling a little uncomfortable right now. Hell, Motorola was always rumored to be working on

FWIW, Konfabulator (now Y! ConnectedTV) is on 8 million TVs and growing. Pairing that with their recent IntoNow acquisitions, if those are to be integrated (rumored) then it could be a very unique and exciting product.

While I believe NaCl is radically different in nature compared to the DOM or XHR additions, regardless, web standards development is a much different game today than it was 5, let alone 10 years ago. We aren't talking about Apple experimen

Feel free to peruse through WHATWG's specification for "Web Applications", or "Web Apps" for short. There is a standardized, very explicit definition of what that term means. http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/complete/

XHR became standard in 2004. When did "Ajax" really begin to take off? 2005-2006. The DOM? Not sure what you are implying.

Just because something is a standard in no way means one way or another that browsers should actually support it. For example... C# is a non-proprietary approved spec by ECMA, but you don't see that inside of a web browser. If something is

No, ActiveX's downfall was that it wasn't part of the open-web. If ActiveX had bullet-proof security, it still would have failed because you'd still only have IE supporting it. In NaCl's case, Chrome will be the only browser to ever suppo

I agree that people consider anything that appears in a web browser is a "web app", but that doesn't make it right. ActiveX, Java Applets, Silverlight, Flash, and NaCL are not "web apps." People also think "Internet" is analogous to "Worl

I applaud them as well. It's better than just sitting on the sidelines (see: Google & Microsoft) while their "partners" get sued. But, let's not forget there is a lot for Apple to lose in this if Lodsys is victorious. If developing iO

That's exactly what Lodsys would like. If Joe Startup sees a patent lawsuit and Apple is offering to pay the bills, heck yeah, just let them take care of it. In which case, all the money likely goes to a patent troll for them to scoop up
