Yikes. I use Moniker too, and this hasn't ever happened to me. I thought they were better than that.

Thanks to all three of you for the answers-I didn't realize AppEngine's pricing model unbundled warmed-up app instances resident in RAM from CPU time and bandwidth, which makes their offering not directly comparable to Heroku.

The pricing power this reveals Google to have is fascinating. On Heroku, which runs on top of EC2, 3 dynos running all the time cost $72 a month. Google is charging $9 for what seems to be the same thing. Is Heroku really charging 8 times a

That was really insightful. Where's the Temple Grandin[1] of designing web experiences and UIs for Joe Blub? Complaining about not getting a chance to show off what you do is just complaining about your poor understanding of the behavior of

That is interesting. I instinctively use "we" when commenting code or talking myself through performing a novel task, in both cases for the same reason.

Apple isn't your typical BigCo though. Your predictions about the existence of bureaucratic infighting and turf politics ignore Apple's nature. First, Apple is run more like an enormous startup. Second, iOS and OS X share a LOT of engineers

At the Back to the Mac event, Tim Cook pointed out that Apple's Mac business, if spun off into its own company, would be #110 on the Fortune 500. The Mac isn't going anywhere.

Aha, your answer is more concise, and it addresses FooBarWidget's misapprehension more directly. Yes, "the runtime" is just the browser javascript engine.

In practice, this isn't a problem. Coffeescript is more of an alternate syntax for Javascript than a different language. Sure it has some great sugar, but it's really easy to understand how that sugar translates into plain old Javascript. I

You would be surprised. People who grew up under Soviet education are a lot more cultured and worldly than Americans. Hint: if your worldview is a cartoon, it's probably inadequate to reality.
