I ran cjdns for 5 years but recently switched off it. For one, it seemed to have too much traffic over my limited outbound link when things should have been more idle. Also, the commit logs were a little unnerving to me for code I'm tr

That branch/port of Tornado is https://github.com/fiorix/cyclone and it's pretty nice. I greatly prefer it to t.web or nevow, which I used to use. The tornado and cyclone APIs are closer to what I am thinking about as a web developer. Vir

Something I'd be very interested to see are the ideas that multiple people are asking for. And then the next thing I would want is a fast way to throw up an ad for the app in question, just to see how many clicks it gets.

See also: http://twiteye.com/ That one is more scrolly, and searches for a bit more than just 'app' ideas.

I want a light switch/button for my home theater, and I intend to 3d print that. I am also working on a front door bell panel (with camera, LCD, etc) that will probably be printed. The guy I know with a printer has used it primarily for mak

But despite all that description, all my deployments have been one-liners with 3-4 cmdline params only. It really adds near-zero deployment cost. Squid can do what varnish does, but it's 2x slower by my measurements, and it has a gigantic c

Don't ask this, _advertise_ each of those titles. Run a few text link ads, have them lead to a "thanks for your interest- sign up here if you want to know when I write that book". I forget who I learned this trick from :(

I can't argue for it taking such a prime spot on the keyboard, but I used c-s/c-q every day to freeze scrolling output that I want to look at. Your terminal scrollback will still work during the pause.

Often merely moving from the dev environment to the release environment changes the URIs. Sure, you could try to minimize the part that changes between environments and teach all your clients to form correct URIs between environments, but i

no link handy, but a similar thing was tried with email before. You had to offer points for someone to read your mail, and readers would natutally read the highest-paying emails first. The results sounded cool, similar to what you were pred

It's so hard for me to fathom how tools like this can be businesses (in the long term). I'm sure it can be done, and similar things have made money in the past, but the privacy part of economics seems so skewed. My data is worth tons to me,

ACID = "reliable"? You need to define that. Also you casually mix in "default state", so you need to decide if you're going to include all the possible modes of the more flexible stores out there or if you want this to be a silly attack on

'Break even' doesn't mean they aren't making money, right? All we can conclude is that they have structured their accounting to say that the amount they're spending on the stores (whatever that means) is almost as much as the stores bring i

http://www.foaf-project.org/ is one of the main standards. http://code.google.com/p/xoperator/ is a bit weird, but I think has some of the right ideas of the distributed SN.

Why aren't our window managers doing this?! Then it would work for all apps, and it would be redundant for chrome and others to replicate the feature internally. I used to think that window tabbing and grouping was too complex a UI proble
