Applying the Martini Method to coding is not so simple: as has been pointed out countless times, programmer productivity can't be measured in lines of code produced. But maybe something like svn diff | wc -l is a good enough stand-i

I think the point is more that they never pay. If they were actually paying and then getting their money back, they really would lose money on this (in float), and it would be easy enough to write a script that would make them run out of m

What are they going to do next? Resolve all failed DNS lookups to their paid search engine?* *This was done by VeriSign, but at the time, VeriSign owned Network Solutions.

He sounds to me like a southern Ontarian who moved to southern California 15 years ago, and used his dot-com winnings to devote more time to surfing.

Removing any of the three words results in no candles. They are clearly Kwanzaa candles -- red, black, and green. Googling "kwanzaa" or "candles" does not produce the candles, but googling "kwanzaa candles" does. "hanukkah candles" and "chr

I realize I'm howling in the wind by replying 13 days after the fact, but I just noticed this. I would view the sale of "sex.com", at whatever price, to be a good and natural example of free markets tending to reallocate resources for near-

And this is different from a Weeble how, exactly? I'm going to guess it's of uniform density, unlike a Weeble, but the article completely misses that point. Maybe the author was never a child?

If you're looking for 100/100, plug in ZIP code 10001 (no address -- puts you around the corner from Madison Square Garden). 83210, in rural Idaho, gets a donut.

I have to admit I understand Haskell a lot less than I thought I did (which wasn't much to begin with -- I've done maybe four or five Euler Project puzzles with it and nothing else). I tried this same Fibonacci function on my machine using

This is about the most bogus test the author could have constructed. You have to explicitly memoize functions in languages that aren't purely functional like Haskell. Fibonacci is around O(1.6^n) if you conveniently "forget" to memoize it

That's not a very effective defense of domain squatting. The idealistic sex educator should just as rationally say, "I'm not making $1.5m off this site, so I should accept that bid and sell it, and use the money to get my important message

Excuse me if this is a bad idea, since I ditched the social network trend after a few minutes on Friendster some years ago. It seems that the design ought to have however many different levels of friends you want, with the inner circles see
