Gmail is a very good example of a finished app being tinkered with. No one asked for Meet to be integrated. There was already a good app for Meet. Then came Chat and Rooms!!

This is a valid point! Anyone who has built an admin dashboard knows that the UX of being able to edit any field in any row on an Excel is hard to replicate without additional edit buttons and dialogs popping up.

As someone who has done this, I can tell that it's not easy to justify. In my previous company, there were two teams, one in India and the other in US, working on a project. Each team had a scrum master and a daily morning scrum call.

When I implemented search for my app, I built a hierarchy of the different attributes weighted by levels and scored search phrases for how closely they matched. This is for mobile phones. For example, searching for "Silver iphone 11 pr

Could you elaborate on this? How does the distinction between taking and applying affect the decision making process?

Ya there are some decisions that are best taken from the top like “what is the overall direction for the company”, “who is our real customer”. We should absolutely listen to the views of anyone in the company who has an opinion but some que

I agree with your points, having experienced both sides. One other thing that I've noticed helps a lot is to have a starter template. It's a lot easier to not procrastinate when you have a structure to think with even if the struc

I think it depends on the activity. It's impossible to build any medium to high complexity software by working on it for 5 mins a day. But you can make a lot of progress by practising every day for very little time. For example, I'

Ya this makes sense. It's like setting up a chess board to study a position vs trying to do it all in your head.

Recently I started incorporating n8n, a workflow automation software, into my backend. Initially my use-cases were Zapier-like. But I realised it was more powerful as a visual program editor. For certain kinds of workflows, it is more intui

I understand how it ends up like this as I myself run a startup with a small tech team. Typically the issue is that we are always looking to add new features versus trying to fix issues from past. But I still believe that with good principl

Most of the things described in this post are easy to mitigate without much additional development effort. Rate limiting, role based access etc are commodities now. Implementing server-side validations is, in my opinion, mandatory. This is
