I thought the UK decided to extradite him to Sweden for rape charges? While Wikileaks is certainly a motivating factor, and I'm sure it's why this story gets as much press as it does, I don't think it's where his legal problems stem from. A

Sure, I'm not saying there isn't an issue here. Apple is in the wrong and so are the litigators in the patent suit. My point is that they shouldn't be in fear of their daughter losing her voice any time soon. Are other kids going to lose by

Can you still just copy and paste from your /tmp folder in Ubuntu? I can't do that on Arch, so I just use the FlashGot Firefox addon.

I know, that's my point. I don't have an iPad, but can't you turn off updates? Can't you turn off networking entirely? If so, how would an update even occur? Don't just sit there in fear of an update, prevent it .

They keep talking about Apple updating the OS, but why in the world would they let that happen? Turn updates off! This is your child's voice, don't put somebody else in control of it! Turn off wireless, mobile data, everything. This should

I'd like something physical I can feel and use muscle memory to remember. Having to search the screen, interpret some obscure glyph and make sure I touch the right spot requires far too much attention for most tasks. Volume down + left swip

The thing I hate most about modern UIs is the lack of information. Instead of buttons with text, it's just a whole bunch of mysterious icons. Give me at least some idea of what will happen when I click your icon, and please try and make it

That's just a technicality. :P But seriously, I think this sort of service would be aimed at employers looking for long term professional employees, not some temporary code jockey. In that case, dismissing a proven employee in order to save

I don't see how this is different from saying "The World Wide Web is the open source rival to Facebook". It's true. There isn't anything about Facebook you can't do with your own website. Facebook just centralizes it and makes it easier on

I've been thinking of a new recruitment model: guaranteed employment. Suppose a recruiting agency guaranteed their recruits, as in, "We'll pay their salary for the [six months | year | whatever]. If they are acceptable, at the end of that p

Stop making sense. Next you'll start on about how people should be able to work, vote and run for office regardless of which patch of dirt their mothers delivered them on. Turning away brown people from our shores and then slaughtering them

We're omnivores, not carnivores. Hence the teeth and intestines. Cecil Adams had this to say in 1990, I'd be interested if others would provide an update: "Like the hard-core carnivores, we have fairly simple digestive systems well suited t

I still can't believe Linus doesn't use Arch, or LFS or some sort of custom setup. The great thing about Linux is that you don't have to put up with the crap some distro gives you. Just remove Gnome and try something else.

You absolutely can run Linux on a router. Smartphones and tablets are more powerful than any PC 15-20 years ago. Were those just appliances too? I think you're trying to justify anti-competitive behavior by making a distinction where there
