Oh we've been introducing Stasi-like laws for a long time now. I think if we weren't a member of five-eyes most other countries would probably consider us an oppressive state by now.

You can still `source .venv/bin/activate(.fish)` and skip the uv run bit. I have Fish shell configured to automatically activate a .venv if it finds one in a directory I switch to.

I own one Samsung product, a very expensive fridge freezer, and it's been garbage since the day I bought it. I'll never buy a Samsung product again.

Should have mentioned that I use Moom at the moment on Mac, and I love it. It's that scrolling paradigm that interests me here though.

That video immediately made me wish this was available for Mac, it seemed to fit my brain's model of how things should be.

I went Sony after trying both them and the Bose. The ANC was about the same (this is maybe 5 years ago) but the sound quality on the Sonys was head and shoulders better than the Bose. They're incredible on a flight.

Thanks for these recommendations - both of these look like the sort of thing I've been looking for and failing to find for several weeks. And @albertgoeswoof - pretty sure we'll be gradually moving a lot of clients over to you soo

This was a timely reminder for me to cancel it too, for pretty much all the same reasons. But also primarily because the content on Prime Video is like the clearance bucket in a closing down Blockbusters and then they had the brass neck to

This is a bit silly isn't it? It's like saying having colour options for your new car is a UX failure because someone else should choose that for you.

Thanks for this clarification. The parent made a lot of interesting points but this very wrong statement at the start made it harder to trust the rest of it.

I'm not sure that's entirely true, the UK government gets sued regularly and loses a fair amount.

You can log into your Mac and your AppleTV and your iPhone and your iPad and all the services Apple has to offer with your Apple account. How is Microsoft offering the same thing any better?

I don't know if this helps at all but you can use `export FOO=bar` in Fish, and the prefixing a line with an envvar should work the same as in Bash etc. like `FOO=bar echo $FOO`

Can I ask what you find difficult about the environment variables system in Fish? Personally I find it absolutely lovely to use.

I have every Facebook owned domain blocked in NextDNS so it's essentially impossible for them to track me. I don't even have a Facebook account but they obviously don't need me to have one to build a shadow profile.

I thought I was going to disagree with this post when I read the opening sentence, but actually it's bang on. When the Blue Labour coup installed Starmer as leader I vowed never to vote Labour again as it essentially turned the UK into

I've used 1.5 through 3.5, XL has been kinda fine for me but tiny adjustments can take it from good to terrible. Good point about Flux though, that's awful on the Mac.

I use TypeGuard too, but only in local dev and pytest runs. I find it really useful so I'm now intrigued to try Beartype too. I found the readme on GitHub confusing at a glance though, I need decorators to type check something?
