I think I see what you mean, it's just that to me the language of orcs, elves, or other fantasy concepts is necessarily any more relatable or compelling than the language of code, technology, and corporations in a modern (or futuristic

Well, I'll keep you in mind as the year ticks over, in case knowing there's one totally random Internet stranger thinking about you can provide some tiny semblance of loneliness relief :)

I went through a few different phases in my education: First, in my home country, were 6-day school weeks and hours of evening study. I remember a very specific instance of sitting at my desk at home with a light on when I was 8 or 9 years

Oh wow, I think the possibilities of working modern technology into fiction in interesting ways are endless. The only thing is, you'll need to decide how accurate the story needs to be. You COULD do a fully historically accurate portra

Happy New Year! I do not do "resolutions", but my plan is as always to keep learning and growing as a developer. Also to do even more writing! Including my fiction, which has been picking up steam. Like you, I hope to consume less

Thank you. I read that Google Voice only provides US numbers, which I have a sneaking suspicion might become a problem for me if my address is not in the US. Coupled with not really wanting to be locked in to Google for another service, I d

That's not how it works. We have employee protections that are intended to prevent exploitation. If those are failing, there is definitely something wrong with that.

I didn't _think_ GA provided a mechanism for a site owner to target a user in real time based on their gender though. I just assumed everyone got the same popup regardless of gender.

A readership is not a requirement for a blog, on your own domain or elsewhere. If you are looking for a platform that will magically throw thousands of views your way just by nature of you existing there, I think you'll be disappointed

To get into a password manager account, you require a secret and your master password. It is a potential point of failure, but less of one than what I tended to do without a password manager: reuse the same passwords across different sites.
