I read some comments around here, and I don't get 50% of what you guys are saying. So maybe, it's a good idea for someone to create a quick dictionary-like webapp to explain the startup lingo and/or HN lingo?

Not really sure if it works for non-EU residents, but you might give it a go. http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/infoAndGuide/companyRegistr... PS: Haven't used it personally, but I know some people that used it to form companies in the UK.

I'm glad to hear that. A beta will be released on Android in about a month. Shortly after that, hopefully, the IPhone version will be out. I'll save your email address and send you a quick notify when the beta is up and running.

Working on a neat way of broadcasting a photo slideshow from your smartphone to any computer screen. No accounts, no cables, no nothing.

I'm sorry for being so bold, but this is plain stupid. I don't know any Android users that 'fear' downloading apps. I don't know where exactly did you get your statistics, but are clearly wrong. I use both Android and iOS and I never insta

This is a great story. Being from an ex-communist country, I've heard numerous stories like this from my parents and their friends. In my country the mandatory army service law was active until 2007. If you didn't get admitted to a college,

Yes, coding is also creative. If you want to write some sexy code you'll have to some designing. But program design is more like planning. To write nice code you need some sort of planning before firing up the text editor. In UX design yo

I strongly disagree. Using Twitter bootstrap is OK. Copying other design is not OK. Also, saying that design is a set of rules is like saying music or drawing is a set of rules. It's not. Design is a creative process. It's not about knowing

Extremely well said. I too found myself recently in a position where a friend asked me if I could teach him how to code. I often found myself saying that coding is easy, coding is just a tool that you have to master (like a farmer has to ma

Not sure if really on topic, but here goes. YC alumni, what stage was your startup in when you applied for YC (idea, sketches, working prototype, launched product(s), etc) and did you make any radical changes to your product(s)?

Kudos! You should considering extending this app for more users. To be some sort of CV-app with great graphics. Maybe integrated with Linkedin.

That's exactly what I'm interested in. I know I can't learn how to run a business from a couple of books, but I'm hoping to at least get an idea about what's involved in running a business. Thank you for your reply.

You can learn anything from books. Even sex. The hands on approach is good only after you have some basic knowledge.

My two cents: I think it's because understanding recursion involves a good understanding of a bunch of stuff. You have to know about the different scopes of variables (global, local), how the variables are stored, how does a stack work, etc
