That sounds like an interesting approach. Have you tried it with a real-world project? I'm curious if the approach has been proven.

Yes, Closure Compiler can be made to generate multiple files in this way. IIRC you can give it multiple entrypoints and it will generate files with the code unique to each entrypoint, plus one with the shared code.

Why do you object to self-hosted analytics? I understand blocking centralized trackers (I do so myself), but self-hosted doesn't seem problematic in the same way GA being present on half the pages on the Internet is. It also strikes m

While I'm all for downvoting the grandparent, I'd say reading the installer script is wise even if you trust the source. Developers aren't good at shell, much less portable shell, and such scripts are usually far inferior in

I think that the low-end market for rice cookers is already dominated by the primitive on/off models. I doubt a smart model can compete on price with a thermal switch. I'd disagree with the OP that a $50 smart rice cooker is a lu

Hopefully we can find a more pleasing medium. For example, if designers used web fonts with metrics that match common built-ins the FOUT could be made much less jarring. (Yes, ligatures and such make that difficult in the general case, bu

While we're discussing problems with web fonts, let's not forget the other common ailment: setting body text in a 300-weight font. Plenty of people don't seem to think to test web fonts on other OSes, as if font rendering we

Also other, more concentrated dairy products: cheese, yogurt, sour cream, etc. Making cheese requires lots of cow's milk, removes much of its moisture (hence its weight) and also has preservative effects.

I also have a NextDesk, the Solo Plus ( http://www.nextdesks.com/solo#plus ). I'm generally quite pleased with it; it's certainly far nicer than anything I could build myself. The Terra is probably noticeably more

It's not a local law, it's FCC regulation. AT&T is the ILEC and Sonic the CLEC. This is part of the reason AT&T wants to move everyone to U-Verse---it's not subject to the same regulation as regular phone lines (bei

I think it comes down to multitasking. The notification systems of phones enable it, while the primitive launchscreen/app switching system gets in the way. Homescreen widgets can have the same function, but they're much less dis
