KKV databases (Cassandra and DynamoDB are good examples) have a common problem with hotspots or "hot partitions". The most common mistake is to use a timestamp of any kind in the range (cluster) column. Then, whatever partition re

I've been using retool for a year, and very heavily for some large internal tools for the last month. I find some of its design rather inspired. Its been massively helpful and surprisingly easy to use. Even for some relatively complica

The Ketoers say this isn't a problem. That cholestorol is misunderstood, and high values are only bad if you eat high carbs. If your low carb then the high value is actually normal and healthy. But YMMV

Isn't this the kind of thing that was missing from the "go on different platforms" benchmark a little while back. The intel platform has crazy optimization for encryption algorithms on Inteil, while ARM was severely lacking.

Seems to have a weird bridge it has to serialize things and send them across to get them to the native side... ala React Native. I say weird, because go should be native by itself, thus no need for this hoop-jumping.

I like this. Especially the error handling. Since the focus on a scripting language can be brevity (Ala perl) I don't want to write all that error handling boilerplate. But I don't want to ignore issues either. So this is a compr

This isn't new. And with schools like this, they say "good job" or tech job, but they mean "any job" (that pays over 50k). I've had friends screwed by this before. If you can't get hired because you went

I've been working with golang for too long. Everytime I watch stuff like this it just looks like they're re-inventing goroutines, channels, and the go scheduler.

I used to be a Perl Guru, but am well out of practice. I still use it in my regular job as a pragmatic way to do some data munging without having to start up a REPL. I'd love to have a copy of the book.

Disappointed after reading the thread here. At first look, I thought it would be more along the lines of, "snapshot a few randomly chosen pages from the book with your mobile camera, to prove that you've bought the book in the pas
